Holy Tuesday
Read Mark 12:30
-
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’
Mark 12:30 (NASB)
A Day of Confrontation and Truth
On Tuesday of Passion Week, Jesus spent His day teaching in the temple, answering challenges from religious leaders, and warning His disciples about the future. It was a day of intense debate as the Pharisees, Sadducees, and scribes tried to trap Him with difficult questions. Yet, every time, Jesus responded with wisdom and truth, silencing His critics.
One of the most powerful moments came when a scribe asked Jesus about the greatest commandment. His answer was simple yet profound: Love God with everything you are, and love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:30-31). In the midst of conflict and opposition, Jesus pointed to the heart of true faith—devotion to God and love for others.
A Call to Examine Our Hearts
Tuesday of Passion Week challenges us to examine our own hearts.
Do we love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength?
Do we allow distractions, fears, or worldly concerns to weaken our devotion?
Do we love others as Jesus commands, even when it’s difficult?
Jesus spent His final days not defending Himself, but teaching, correcting, and calling people to truth. He knew the cross was coming, yet He remained focused on His mission. In the same way, we are called to stay faithful, even in the face of trials and opposition.
Living Out the Greatest Commandment
As we reflect on this day in Passion Week, let’s recommit to loving God fully and loving others selflessly. True faith isn’t just about knowledge or religious activity—it’s about a heart surrendered to Christ.
Prayer
“Lord Jesus, help me to love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. Remove anything that distracts me from You, and teach me to love others as You have loved me. Strengthen my faith as I follow You this Holy Week. Amen.”
